Snatch

A terminal app for Windows and macOS that downloads video or audio from almost any site. It is keyboard only: paste a link, pick a format and quality, and it saves an MP4 or M4A. It keeps presets for one-key downloads and a history of the last 50 files. It is on npm as @marlve/snatch.

Why it exists

yt-dlp can download from almost anywhere, but remembering its flags every time is a chore, and most download sites are full of ads.

How it works

It is an Ink app, so the whole interface is React rendered in the terminal. It runs yt-dlp and FFmpeg underneath, and offers to install them with winget or Homebrew if they are missing. A link on the clipboard shows up as a suggestion, and Tab fills it in.

What it solves

Saving a video or a song is a paste and a couple of keys. It uses the site's own streams, so nothing is re-encoded, and presets send each type of download straight to its folder.
